Woman's Wallet Stolen At Darien Whole Foods, Suspects Get Away, Police Say

An investigation is underway after a woman's wallet was stolen from a Whole Foods in Fairfield County, and the credit cards inside were used at a department store.

The incident took place in Darien around 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4 at the Whole Foods at 150 Ledge Road.

According to Darien Police Sgt. Dan Skoumbros, the victim told officers that she was shopping in Whole Foods and when she went to pay for items, she realized her wallet was missing from her bag. 

The victim said that she checked her credit card account and discovered her card was used at Bloomingdale's in the SONO Collection Mall in Norwalk, Skoumbros said.

Skoumbros said video surveillance showed two women following the victim down an aisle in Whole Foods, and one of the women reaching inside her bag and removing the wallet.

The investigation is ongoing.
